Smuzi is now open!

It all started with a great idea: design products with simple materials. To make a long story short, I started creating samples a couple of months ago and people loved them. I usually plan everything, but this time I decided to go with the flow. The company was founded with the goal of making beautiful utilities – mostly with paper.

Right after everything was confirmed we reserved a space at a gift fair. That gave me around 40 days to design all products, the sites, catalogs, business cards, banners, folders and so on. I really can’t believe how I did it, but in this period I designed over 50 products and set up the sites, e-mails and everything else! It was hectic, I got sick because of the work overload, I had to cancel other projects… But it was completely worth it!

Smuzi is now open! At the gift fair everybody was astounded by the products. The compliments gave us energy to continue our work and create more and more.

By the way, these designs are temporary, I plan to do something more retro with the sites.

Remember the project I said I was working with? I’m working as an art director at Smuzi, a fresh new design brand that produces utilities and packaging.

I’ve been out last week working at a gift fair called Brazil Promotion. We released all the products and got in touch with many new clients.

I’m organizing the photos now and will upload them soon. I just need some time to relax.

Vero

Last year I invited Karl Zahn, a NY designer, to help me design a new yoyo for Vulto. We worked together for almost 8 months designing this yoyo called Vero.

This project was a lot of fun, but also one of the hardest projects I’ve ever directed. Vero is going to be released this month by Vulto.

Wood art by Bartolucci

In January I visited this small shop in Firenze called Bartolucci, with hundreds of amazing wood products. ‘

I love how they handle every product (including the more “industrial” ones) with so much care. The colors, the finishing and the textures are really one of a kind.

You can find out more about it at bartolucci.com

Wooden products

After a couple of weeks designing, prototyping and playing with wood, I got the first product. It’s a pencil container, or holder. Designed for artists, it’s very useful to keep all your markers, pens or pencils. It makes it easy to see the colors and grab the pencil you want.

From sketches to real products

These sketches were all approved and will become real products soon. I still have to confirm some production details, but everything else is done.

It’s always nice to see ideas like these becoming real!
