Free icons

Posted in News on June 24th, 2009 by Mario Troise – 1 Comment

I finished the base layout for Vulto’s new site today. For this project I had to create about 20 icons. I’m really tired of aqua, Mac OS and XP icons and their over hyped glossy styles.  All I wanted was something simple, colorful and effective, so I used the Adobe Creative Suite icon style as reference.

These are very minimal icons with good visualization. They are easy to customize. I’m sharing some icons with you, and I didn’t forget the original Photoshop file. Enjoy!

Flip-flops and headaches

Posted in Drawing & Painting, News on May 13th, 2009 by Mario Troise – 2 Comments

I’ve been working round the clock this week, even after finishing my most demanding project on Monday. I’m dividing my time between my courses, work at Vulto and research for a new brand I’m creating. I’m also training a guy at work and hiring a new designer.

Just when I thought it would be impossible to find time for everything a journalist called me to schedule an interview. Then, some friends asked me to create a logo for a business course. How could I say no?

I really don’t know how I did it, but I managed to meet the journalist in the morning, create the logo, work and study. I never have headaches, but today it was inevitable… Well, at least the logo looks fine!

Pantone / SeaVees snickers

Posted in News, Product Design on April 13th, 2009 by Mario Troise – Be the first to comment

To celebrate the founding of Pantone in 1963 SeaVees has produced exactly 1963 pairs with 7 vintage colors from the original Pantone color guide. Talk about retro!

The colors were chosen to ” epitomize the cool, casual style of California in 1963″. They are selling now!

Ruse – one day we will play videogames like this

Posted in News, Video on April 11th, 2009 by Mario Troise – Be the first to comment

RUSE is an upcoming strategy game that should hit the streets in sometime this year (PC, Xbox, Playstation). The game itself is probably good, but what took my attention was this teaser video, showing a tactile based gameplay. It’s a really nice idea, but probably still a couple of years ahead in out future (unless, of course, someone makes a giant Nintendo DS).

‘Machu Picchu Post’ is a short created by Clément Crocq, Margaux Durand-Rival and Nicolas Novali from Supinfocom. The animation is very creative and the colors are outstanding. Take a look at the video and visit their site to see the gallery.

New sports video

Posted in Music, News on April 7th, 2009 by Mario Troise – 1 Comment

I’m working on a new video for Vulto (yoyoing and skill sports company) to be released in a couple of weeks. It’s a collection of yoyoing, skate, bmx, juggling and many other sports. The video is really nice, aggressive and very entertaining (specially if you are a sports fan).

The best thing of this job is that we have have no limits and face no censorship at Vulto. The company is very open-minded, and since it works with sports we can push some boundaries when editing the video. We are using many different songs, from metal to downtempo, which is good for a music addict like me. We are also keeping it very simple. Our goal is to work  without many effects or corrections to keep the video as original as possible.

Yesterday Vulto released the first preview of this upcoming video. Enjoy!

Guys from Information Architecture Japan released the last Web Trends Map. It shows the 333 most influential sites based on the Tokyo Metro map. The complex lines apparently are very similar to trends traffic through the internet. Very interesting work. Click on the image to download the full version and check IA’s website.
