Analog interface

05-08-2020
Analog interface
An analog interface is an electrical connection that forwards analog electrical signals to downstream electrical and electronic equipment or components for further processing. Standardized analog interfaces (such as 0/4-20 mA and 0/2-10 V) are also called standard signals.

Since current signals are insensitive to electromagnetic interference (activation of adjacent consumers) and voltage losses (due to line resistance), they are preferable to voltage signals. The maximum length of the power signal line is only limited by the maximum load.

The load is the load resistance of an electrical transducer/converter with a current output signal, so the cable resistance defined by the cable cross section must be considered.
